Platform Engineer Storage (Multiple experience levels)

The team:

During this early stage of our journey, we operate as an integrated and cohesive engineering team. As we scale our software development team over time, we envision forming multiple specialized teams, each focusing on specific features within our cloud. By joining us at this foundational stage, you have a unique opportunity to significantly shape our codebase, drive the direction of future product development and collaborate closely together with other leaders in the field.

Examples of day-to-day responsibilities:

• Integrating and maintaining existing open-source components within our tech stack.
• Collaborating with fellow platform engineers to devise effective solutions tailored to our specific needs.
• Developing and sustaining tools that enhance team efficiency, including those for continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), local development, build tooling and other core infrastructure.
• Strategizing how and in what order we will develop our various software components together with the rest of the team.
• Helping the team figure out what good looks like and help us figure out how to get there.

We appreciate if you have experience with some of the following:

• Solid general knowledge in distributed systems and Linux systems engineering.
• Building/extending software systems for storage and data services, for example: Ceph, Rook, Postgresql, Cassandra, Spark, Nats.
• Configuration/Testing/Monitoring of storage systems, for example: dimensioning, scaling, replication, recovery, Prometheus.
• Control planes based on Kubernetes operators.
• Infrastructure-as-code tooling and automation, for example: Terraform, Ansible, Helm.
• Production grade operations of as-a-service systems, for example: SRE practices, security certification such as ISO 27k.
• Working with and contributing to open source ecosystem.
• Working with software build and secure software supply systems, for example: Bazel, OpenSSF.
• System programming in, for example: Golang, Rust, Erlang/Elixir, JS/TS, Python.
